About Slay Lake City

Slay Lake City is an adult version of our youth summer camp. Slay Lake City exists to help us build our Rock Camp SLC community by finding new volunteers to help with our youth camps and raise money to help run our programs. We are dedicated to empowering marginalized genders from all backgrounds through music education, collaboration, and performance.

Applying to Slay Lake City is a 3-part process

Part 1: Fill out this application completely before Sunday, October 22nd at midnight.

Part 2: We will review all the applications as we get them and send you an email letting you know if you have been selected to join us by Monday, October 30th. Campers will be sent an invoice through PayPal. You can pay the full amount all at once or you can make payments through December 20th. 

Part 3: All participants will be sent a link to fill out our acceptance packet digitally - this form includes emergency contact information, code of conduct, release of liability, media release, and freedom of artistic expression policies that require digital signatures. We will continue to send emails with updates and more detailed information as camp gets closer.

December 27th - 30th, 2023*

*We are still working on a showcase location and exact camp dates will be subject to change. Camp days will be December 27th - 29th from approximately 9am to 7pm and the showcase will either be on the evening of Friday, December 29th, or in the afternoon or evening of Saturday, December 30th.

TBD - we are talking to a couple of venues in Salt Lake City

General Daily Schedule:

Camp Setup Days (Volunteers only) - We have a lot of options for setup at East Hollywood High School while they are closed for winter break. Our options are December 21st, 22nd, 23rd, or 26th. If you are able to help with setup, please answer the question in this application about your availability.

Camp Day 1 - Wednesday, December 27th - approximately 9am to 7pm - morning assembly, band formation, ice breakers, instrument instruction, workshops, lunch, loud and quiet band practices, closing assembly

Camp Day 2 - Thursday, December 28th -  approximately 9am to 7pm - morning assembly, instrument instruction, workshops, lunch,  loud and quiet band practices, closing assembly

Camp Day 3 and Showcase* - Friday, December 29th -  approximately 9am to 4pm - morning assembly, instrument instruction, workshops, lunch,  loud and quiet band practices, closing assembly

Optional Showcase* - Saturday, December 30th* - possibly having showcase in the afternoon or evening if we don't have it Friday night
