What: A program of Rock Camp SLC where teens mentor younger campers while they attend camp. In the morning these teens will co-instruct an instrument along side the adult volunteers. In the afternoon, they will form a band with others in the Teen Internship Program and self-manage their own band with minimal input from the adult leaders. These campers will perform and teach the camp song, mentor younger campers, and learn teaching and leadership skills from the adult volunteers.

Who: Girls, transgender, non-binary, and gender expansive youth ages 14-17 who are interested in interning with Rock Camp SLC

Why: For older and/or more experienced youth to mentor younger or less experienced campers in an effort to empower youth voices, foster positive mentorship, encourage involvement in the camp, and to offer youth the opportunity to gain valuable experience mentoring other youth.

Rules:

  1. Teens must teach along-side an adult at all times

  2. Teens are responsible to maintain healthy boundaries with the youth they mentor

  3. Teens must show up on time and stay for the entire shift

  4. Teens will be held to a Code of Conduct
